Merit Prizes & Competition Rules

We have some great prizes to award to our top finishers across a range of events. The exact trophies to be awarded and the rules of competition are detailed below. We encourage all the gazelles aiming to be at the pointy end on event day to review this information carefully.

Even if you don’t see yourself as the next Nick Willis, you won’t be going home empty handed. Read on for information on our Finisher Medal for everyone who makes it to the Podium Rotorua Ekiden finish line.

Merit Awards

Top Running Teams

  • Top male, female and mixed teams each receive a prize

Open Division Running Champions

  • Top male, female and mixed teams each receive a prize

Workplace Division Running Champions

  • Top male, female and mixed teams each receive a prize

School Teams Running Champions

  • Top boys, girls and mixed teams each receive a prize

Walking Champions

  • Top male, female, and mixed teams each receive a prize

Fancy Dress World Champs

  • Top 3 finishers in full fancy dress receive a prize

  • Top 3 best dressed teams receive a prize

Competition Rules

  • Official results and merit Awards will be based on Gun Time (i.e. the order of the teams across the finish line)
  • To be eligible for merit awards, teams must have at least five registered team members
  • Teams registered in the Walking division must walk at all times whilst participating
  • In the unlikely event of any dispute, the Event Director’s decision shall be final

  • Female teams must comprise only females. Mixed teams must include at least 2 females.
