Merit Prizes and Competition Rules

The Rotorua Ekiden top finishers will be rewarded with some fabulous prizes across a range of events.

Trophies and competition rules are detailed below, please review this information carefully. While receiving a prize or trophy is amazing, if you don’t, you won’t be going home empty handed. Everyone who makes it over the finish line, will receive a 2019 Rotorua Ekiden Finisher Medal. Cool!

Merit Awards

Open Division Running Champions

  • Top Male Team, Top Female Team, Top Mixed Team

Workplace Division Running Champions

  • Top Male Team, Top Female Team, Top Mixed Team

School Team Running Champions

  • Top Guys’ Team, Top Girls’ Team, Top Mixed Team

Walking Champions

  • Top Male Team, Top Female Team, Top Mixed Team

  • Fancy Dress World Champs 2019 Awards to be confirmed

Rotorua Ekiden Relay Competition Rules

  • Official results and Merit Awards are based on Gun Time (the order of teams across the finish line)

  • Teams registered in the Walking Division must walk at all times whilst participating

  • In the unlikely event of any dispute, the Event Director’s decision shall be final

  • Female teams must comprise only females. Mixed teams must include at least two females

  • A team is deemed to have finished the race when the last walker or runner in the team crosses the finish line. Not all team members need to be present.
